Am I Peter Parker? (Happy Thanksgiving)

They had my #1 favorite movie, Spiderman II, on television tonight. It was surprising that Fox television (one of the four major Chicago-area networks) would show that movie on Thanksgiving.

As I sat there recuperating from a hearty Thanksgiving meal, I tried to understand why this movie touched me on so many levels. Then it dawned on me... maybe I'm looking at myself in a mirror. Maybe I am Peter Parker.

Okay, now I'm not saying I have superpowers or "spidey sense" or anything like that. In fact, I'm not talking about Spiderman at all. I'm just talking about the Peter Parker character, all of his flaws and insecurities, and his constant run of bad luck. Everything Peter does always seems to hurt other people, even when he has the best intentions. Yet, when things go wrong, he still tries to keep a positive outlook on life. Actually, maybe being Peter Parker isn't so bad. Things always turn out good in the end, right?
